The Homebound Ministry consists of a group of women who visit the lonely, those people who cannot come to church because of a debilitating illness. Some of our homebound are in nursing homes and some are in their own homes. This is one of the most rewarding ministries in our Church and if you are interested in spending at least 2 hours every week visiting them, we have one group that goes out on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 and two other groups that go out on Wednesday morning at 10:00. We go out in groups of two as Jesus recommended in Mark 6:7, “...And began to send them forth by two and two...”. We would love to be able to add more groups so we could visit more people.

Our ministry verse can be found in Matthew 25:40: “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Our mission is to be a blessing to these people; however, we always come away being blessed instead. Preacher Bozeman prepares a short sermonette of encouragement for us to share with the homebound and we take our love and compassion to lift them up. We try to spend at least 45 minutes with each person to find out how they are doing and if there is a need in their life that we can fill. We bring those needs back to the Church for prayer.

On their birthdays, we make that a special day by bringing them a small gift. Also, at Christmas, the Church provided each one of them a set of the Bible on tape that they can listen to during the week when we aren’t there.

During this last year, we have had over 12 people that we visited and witnessed to. We have met other people at their homes (caregivers and relatives) that we have been able to witness to, also. When 3 of our patients went home to be with the Lord, we were saddened because we would no longer see them on this earth but we were also encouraged because we knew we would see them again in Heaven.
